Spam, also referred to as junk mail, is a term for unsolicited messages sent to your email account. Phishing emails attempt to obtain sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords, and credit card information for malicious reasons. If you believe you've received one of these solicitations, please report the email via the steps below:
Compromised email account
If you were receiving spam and/or phishing emails and you are now unable to receive mail and your linkblue is disabled, your account might have been compromised. Please refer to Compromised Email Account (KB0013338) for more information.
Microsoft Outlook (Application)
- Open the email that you want to report in Outlook. Do not click any links in the email.
- From the top menu ribbon, click the Report Message button (A).
- From the drop-down menu, select the category of spam (B).
- Once you've clicked the type of email you are reporting, a dialogue box will appear asking if you want to report the email to Microsoft for review. Click Report.
- Your spam email will be sent to Microsoft for review. This spam email will also be included in a report to ITS at UK.
Microsoft Outlook (Web Client)
- Open the email that you want to report in the Outlook web client. Do not click any links in the email.
- From the top menu, click the downward-pointing arrow next to "Junk"(A).
- From the drop-down menu, select the category of spam(B).
- Once you've clicked the type of email you are reporting, a dialogue box will appear asking if you want to report the email to Microsoft for review. Click Report.
- Your spam email will be sent to Microsoft for review. This spam email will also be included in a report to ITS at UK.
Google Workspace (Gmail Web Client)
- Open the email that you want to report in the Gmail web client.
- From the top menu, click the three dots in the upper right corner of the email.
- Once clicked, a dialogue box will appear. Select either Report spam or Report phishing.
- Your spam email will be sent to Google for review.
Google Workspace (Gmail app for iOS and Android)
- Open the email that you want to report in the Gmail app.
- Click the three dots. The mail menu opens.
- Click Report Spam in the menu. A dialog appears.
- Select either Report spam & unsubscribe or Report spam.
- The spam email will be sent to Google for review.
Outlook for iOS and Android
Perform these steps to report junk or phishing in Outlook for iOS or Android:
